SKX009 vs. SRPD with StrapXPro Straps
When going from a depth of 50 meters, the Seiko Prospex SKX009 and the Seiko 5 Sports SRPD series were tested to the max. With its 200 meters of robust water resistance and screw down crown, the SKX009 provided a sense of security as it handled the pressure. Its Hardlex crystal was still clear and this allowed the luminous hands and markers to be seen in the dim underwater environment, crucial for reading time.
On the other hand, while the watch has a push crown with a 100 meter water resistance rating, the Seiko 5 Sports SRPD also did not back down easily. Despite the skepticism of some skeptics about its diving capabilities, the SRPD does stand its ground, and by doing this, the Seiko Caliber 4R35 movement showed that it could be kept reliable even under pressure. Both watches were rinsed thoroughly after the dive to neutralize any seawater that may have sneaked through the crown or bezel, a most important step to the longevity of the watch.
Both models performed well, as proven by their surviving for a full 30 minutes at this depth. In extreme conditions, the SKX009 design excels and the SRPD demonstrated that it can too, providing a more relaxed yet dependable option for divers. They both show the variety and toughness of Seiko’s products, and these are just great companions for any underwater adventure.
